The Stage
November 10th, 2016 12:30 pm- 1:00 pm
There is a row of tables that circles the room. The chairs are black and the tables are made of wood with grey tops. To left of the R.Ps table is a recycling bin. The table is in front of a window which over looks the area between A.E, H.O.L, and I.B. The room smells like fresh cooked pizza mixed with that funky, weird hospital smell. There is lots of laughter and smiles. Many conversations are taking place on a variety of topics. The cushioned chairs are all green with matching tables, and many of the these tables are taken with conversations taking place between many different people. Looking around there is a wide assortment of ethnicity and class throughout the room.
The Players
There is a white male wearing a black nike baseball cap with a grey jacket and blue faded jeans. He has one ear bud in his right as well as glasses on his face and a earring in his right ear. He has short hair but the color is hard to determine. He appears to be in his mid twenties. On the table in front of him is a laptop with stickers of various brands such as nike, apple, and few others which I am not sure about. The laptop brand is apple. There is a stack of papers to the right of his laptop as well as a pen and a few highlighters. To the left of that is a grande starbucks cup. This male appears to be middle class of which he comes from a well off family. Doesn’t seem to be religious at all.
In front of him sits his girl friend who is also white. She is 20 years old and is talking about plans for her 21st birthday which must be coming up soon. She has blonde hair and is wearing a wind breaker type jacket with leggings and nike running shoes. She has a music symbol tattoo behind her ear and two piercings on her right ear. On the floor sits a black back pack against her chair. In front of her is a clear water bottle and a agenda or some kind of notebook and a blue pen. She is a middle class person who appears to come from a well off family
She appears to mention something to him and he simply says “I don’t know” and shrugs his shoulders, he doesn’t seem to care too much about what she said and that clearly bothers her as she crosses her arms and looks away from him. He seems to be studying for an upcoming test and doesn’t seem interested in conversation. She reaches and holds his hand but he continues to ignore her and study. She let go and gets up and walks over to the Urban Market and purchases a vitamin water and returns. He drinks his starbucks and puts it in the recycling container across from their table. She says something along the lines of going out Friday night with friends he in response laughs and says “ yeah sure let’s do that” she laughs as well and they carry on. She appears to be non religious as well.
Another male in his early twenties comes up to the table and says “hi” to both of them. He is black and in his early twenties, he is wearing a silver watch. He has short black hair with a black snap back hat on. The man is wearing socks and flip flops with grey sweat pants and a red nike hoody, and a black nike gym bag. The white male do a fancy handshake and the white male asks his friend about going out Friday with them. The black male says “ no thanks, I have other plans but thanks for the offer”. The white male says “no worries, see you around” and the black male leaves. He seems to be religious as he has a small gold chain around his neck with some kind of face engraved on a pendant.
A couple minutes later the girls friend shows up and says a quick hello before leaving the are and going down stairs to the first floor of C.A.C.
The white male closes his laptop is is putting his papers back into his binder. They are getting into an argument over the plans for Friday night. He is saying that he doesn’t want to go because he needs to study. She is said “ please come don’t be an a**hole”. He says “we will go another time I promise” and then she says “what ever” and then gets up and walks away angrily. He sighs and shakes his head and leaves as well.
She was clearly frustrated by the way she was treated and talked to. As he left it seemed he regretted what he did and went to go after her.
The Plot
People interact in different ways depending on a variety of things. These include the environment, social status, as well as some others. The characters in these interactions take certain roles. The people I observed showed emotions that were quite evident to the way they were acting. Things they said and did made it obvious that there was tension.
The Finale
The people surrounding this couple all seemed to be in a good mood. There was lots of laughter and smiles. The two people observed seemed to be the only couple having an off day. It seemed obvious that this was occurring. The body language each person had made it evident that there was some tension between the two. I enjoyed doing this assignment. It was very interesting to see how people acted and why they may have acted or responded to things in a certain way. I was comfortable with this assignment, how ever there were certain times that I was worried I may get caught since I was sitting quite close to my RPS.
