The stage
The play takes place a restaurant which is called Beijing Restaurant. Its located near the Aberdeen mall and on the right side of the HWY towards to Vancouver. Normally there are lots of people choose that restaurant to have their dinner, so thats why I choose that place to complete my observation at that place. Furthermore, I choose 4:00 pm. because most people finish their whole days works at that time and they might share some things they had met at that day. Also in the restaurant, there are different kinds of people sitting there. I was setting at right corner of the restaurant, and its pretty close to the window,because the the sunshine from outside can bright the surrounding enviroment which I can easily to observe the people’s face and to conjecture their feeling. There are two spare table around me, one of the table is in front of me and another one is on my right hand side. After I finished order my food, there are four young people just came into the restaurant and they were just sitting in front of my table. The weather at that day is pretty good. The sky is clear and has nice sunshine.
The players
Person A : The person A is a girl who looks much younger than another people. I guess she might be 19 years old, because from their communication I heard that she is still an ESL student and she just graduated from her high school. She said she was not prepared for her college life. She has beautiful brown eyes and blonde long hair, but thats not her original hair colour because she is an Asian. she is like 160 cm heights. She wears a brown coat and grey scarf.
Person B : She is also a girl, and she is little taller than Person A, I believe she might be around 163 cm heights. She is an Asian and has blonde medium long hair . but she must older than person A. because from their communication, she talks about her assignment form her master degree professor. She is studying education major in TRU. So, she must older than the person A and she might be 24 years old which is same age with me. she wears blue coat and blue jeans. She looks very fashion.
Person C : The person C is an Asian young man, he is a little bit taller than me. So I guess he might be 185 cm heights. He is very thin and his wears looked very casual with medium hair. He is very hungry and tired at that time , because he just finished his whole classes at that day. He said that he is very tired and he wants to have food as soon as possible. From their communication, he is also TRU student and his major is Economics, and he has a lot of assignments to do. So he wants to quick finish the dinner and then go home.
Person D : The Person D is also an Asian young man, different from person C, he is very strong and even taller than person C. He looks older than another 3 people. But inserting thing is that from their communication person D has the same age with person C and they are good friend when they were high school student. The person D has short black hair and wears black glasses. He wears a black coat and black jeans. I don’t get more information from him, because he is a little bit quiet. He doesn’t talk too much with another 3 people.
The plot
At the very beginning, Person D was the first person coming into the restaurant and he told the waitress he will have 3 friends coming soon. After that he start to play his cellphone. After 10 minutes later, the another 3 persons came into the restaurant together. In process converses which from them, I knew that person C and person D were going to have sample dinner today. Person C doesn’t have class today, and person D was waiting for person C came back home,because they are roommates. However, after Person C finish his class, person C met person A and B. So they temporarily decided to go to restaurant for their dinner. Thats why I saw person D came into the restaurant first. After quickly finish their orders. They were staring their communication. Because they are all students, so the most of their communication is about their school life and entertainment in their spare time. In process converses form them, they wren talking a game which is called League of Legend. This game is very popular in young generations.,also Im one player in this game. They exchange their skills and experiences while they were eating. After like 10 minutes later, Person C stared to complain his assignments, because he think his professor just leave him a lots of homework. Its November,so a lot of courses will be finished, there are lots of presentation and final paper to be done. Person C and B said that they spend like 4 hours to study after school. However, person A said she don’t have too much homework because she is just ESL student. Also they shared the information for taking courses for next winter semester. Because they hope they find a good professor to get high grade to pass. Also person C shared some interesting things he met in his part-time job. From their communication , I can know that they are good friends. Because they were joking each others in their communication. After finish their foods, they didn’t leave the restaurant soon instead of staying while and continue their talking. They leave the restaurant on 5:45 and say goodbye to each others.
The conclusion
Im the 4th year student, but this is my first time to do observation assignment like this. Im not really good at writing the story. However, this is really interesting homework for me. Its not only the first time I write the assignment like this, but also I can get a lot of inserting things from this homework.From the assignment, I am stating to spend time to paying more attention to things or people beside me. I can find some behaviours of TRU students, like what they do on their weekends? how does their major? whats the different between my major with their major? and so on. From the observation, you can find there are lots of interesting things around us which we don’t even know that before. Because I am international student, so the people I had observed are also Chinese that I can get more information in their communication. From this assignment, Im starting to lean how to observe people around me, and trying to learn some useful things from them. That will be helpful to me for further study and future life.
